Hello!

Thank you very much for following our blog, and welcome back to the fourth entry! Last week, we discussed the success metrics of Citijan, and we emphasized that success for Citijan is not determined by numbers, but by the social impact that we create. We also noted that if at least one citizen gets benefited, it's a success for us. But, our aspiration goes beyond a single citizen, and we won't stop with just one!

Citijan aspires to impact a billion lives!

Citijan aspires to be a "Social Unicorn!"

When we were first discussing the scale and potential for Citijan amongst ourselves, everything seemed like a mystery. We strongly believed in its social necessity, but we weren't sure if anyone else would believe in us. We didn't precisely know our targeted users, we weren't sure about the number of targeted users, and there were too many uncertainties to even make an attempt to arrive at a ballpark figure. Citijan seemed like a leap of faith into an unknown abyss! However, the change in our approach to success changed our questions as well!

The simple change of looking at it from impact perspective redefined our scale. Creating social impact for billion people doesn't mean having a billion users. In it's journey, Citijan aims to coordinate and collaborate with Governments, administration, legislature, judiciary, NGOs, civil society organizations, election machinery, corporate groups and citizens.

Citijan aspires to make meaningful contribution towards the efforts of each and every one of these democratic participants, in fulfilling their own role in democracy. From such perspective, we need not reach a billion users directly, if we can make a difference to a billion lives indirectly. That's the mission of Citijan!

Social Evolution!

We want Citijan to be a social evolution driven by technology. Citijan is not envisioned to be a set-in-stone rigid platform. Instead, it is envisioned to be a flexible platform, constantly evolving to meet the needs and requirements as they emerge, always trying to create the best value for citizens in fulfilling their responsibilities in participative democracy. Everything that a citizen looks for in a democracy is envisioned to be part of Citijan eventually. What, how, why and when, are questions that are best left unanswered for the moment.

It is undeniable that Citijan may feel like something vague and abstract, with no concrete form of its own. That's precisely its strength! Wherever there is potential to create meaningful social impact through technology, there will be Citijan eventually.

Our vision is bigger than us!

Here's another counter-intuitive thought that we firmly believe in! The future that we envision with Citijan is bigger than Citijan. We want E-Democracy to succeed, and it doesn't really matter to us, whether it happens through Citijan or through other organizations or entities. Citijan is just a placeholder to describe the vision that we foresee for E-Democracy. Let E-Democracy succeed!

What we are doing is igniting the flame, but it doesn't matter to us who carries the flame to the end, as long as the flame reaches the end!

Citijan is not just a start-up in traditional sense. Citijan may be a business by mind, but more than that, it is a service by heart and a revolution by soul!
