The Central Universities (Amendment) Act, 2023, published on 18th December, establishes Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University, with territorial jurisdiction in Telangana, to provide higher education and research facilities primarily for the tribal population of India.
Earlier, Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014, provided for the establishment of a Tribal University in Telangana, and the present Act fulfills the obligation.
Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University is proposed to be established in Mulugu District, Telangana.
